The game also includes a large number of new items and creatures specifically intended to help you against the additional threats of Reign of Giants. The game's 'increased difficulty' won't even be noticeable to someone that hasn't played the original game (because it's going to be extremely difficult either way). Dont Starve: Reign of Giants is an expansion pack that adds new characters, seasons, creatures, biomes, and other challenges to Dont Starve. It is much more time efficient to just learn Reign of Giants as your baseline, with no regard to the Vanilla game. If you choose to play the Vanilla version, learn everything there is, get good at the game, then switch to Reign of Giants you will be forced to learn two entirely separate games. I started with Reign of Giants on and I honestly think you should do the same.
